Hello,
For the one or two people who don’t know me, my name is Kevin Cleary and I’ve been tasked with the very important responsibility of documenting this year’s Peaky Golf Tour. Full disclosure, I know absolutely nothing about golf and am ignorant of your distinctive play styles and was given the job through sheer nepotism. Anyway, with that admission out of the way, let’s get on with the power rankings, starting with:
1. Ruiraidh Sutherland- Otherwise known as Roy (by me), Ruiraidh is the favorite going into the Peaky Golf Tour. Adopting an almost obsessive like desire to win, other players wishing to take Ruiraidh’s spot may find the task borderlining on the impossible. To him, losing is not an option.
2. Aidan Peyton- Like John Wick, Aidan is a man of focus when it comes to all things sports. Some may be perfectly satisfied to be in the number 2 spot, but not Aidan. He wants to be number one and will settle for nothing less.
3. James Choy- Always a frontrunner, James Choy is coming into this tour strong in the power rankings, but his golden years may be coming to a close with his upcoming wedding. Statistically speaking, married golfers don’t win many tournaments, which means this may be his last chance to bring home the gold. History is not on his side.
4. Cameron Cleary- As always, Cameron’s biggest opponent in the tour isn’t one of the other golfers on this list, but rather, himself. How Cameron fares in the tour will be determined by whether or not he can stay out of his own head.
5. Tom Roche- Tom is ranked number 5
6. Eric Stengel- Having won the match play last year, Eric is coming into this tour hot (really hot) and is determined to finally win himself a major.
7. Liam Peyton- Just making it to the top half of the power rankings, Snake in the Grass Liam managed to claw his way to the number 7 spot. The only question is how many people did he need to backstab and throw under the bus to get here.
8. Chris Choy- Starting us off on the bottom half is Chris Choy, and I can’t imagine he’s too happy about that. I see a pair of broken clubs in the near future.
9. JT Peyton- Even though he’s on the low end of the power rankings, JT has hope in the guise of his golf mentor, Kaleigh Link. Under Kaleigh’s tutelage, JT may find himself to be a serious contender.
10. JP Petrucci- Newcomer JP is starting out low in the power rankings, but he still finds himself ahead of four veterans. Whether that’s faith in his abilities or lack of faith in theirs, I have no idea. Regardless, he will have plenty of time to prove himself over the course of the tour.
11. Colin Drummond- Colin had a rough go of it in the past, not because of his golfing abilities, but rather the scheduling conflicts that forced him to miss crucial events. He managed to turn things around last year and put in a strong effort. Hopefully, all his friends have been married by now and he can focus on the task at hand.
12. Callum Sutherland- Callum returns to the tour after taking a year off and is a bit of a question mark, which might explain his low ranking. Whether or not the year off was worth it will soon be answered.
13. Ciaran Sutherland- Like Colin before him, Ciaran’s year in the Peaky Golf Tour is looking uncertain, with rumors swirling of him missing key events. With his commitment to the tour in question, one is left wondering if Ciaran has what it takes to go all the way.
14. Ian Choy- The Mr. Irrelevant of the Peaky Golf Tour, Ian has an uphill battle going forward. Everyone has written him off, classifying his chances of winning as long shot and nonexistent. I know you’re all looking for a “but” here, and believe me, I tried, but nothing comes to mind. Just try your best Ian! I’m sure someone believes in you.
Great read Kev! Looking forward to these posts throughout the year!
